This season was different…

There were a lot less avant-garde pieces than expected and more functional, timeless looks that were 70's office work/ prep school inspired.

The runways gave way to a number of collections that presented puffer jackets, boxy & oversized blazers, circle skirts, the option of wide leg trousers or going pantsless…as leotards and pantyhose were the featured artists of the moment.

This season’s looks were cozy yet luxurious with leopard prints from Alaia, leather head to toe, faux furs, plaids, velvet, corduroy and ruffled maxi dresses courtesy of Altuzarra, Blumarine, Chloe and Chanel all in a range of moody fall hues like Olive, Burgundy, rich Chocolates, Burnt Orange and Mauve; with the exception of bright color blocking from MiuMiu. Statement accessories like thigh high boots, scarf coats, shawls, and bucket hats to pillbox hats were added to elevate looks with drama and sophistication.

How can you incorporate these trends into your existing wardrobe?

Rather than going out buying all new pieces, I recommend you going through your fall and winter pieces, pull the items you have that fall in the realm of what’s trending and consider what you need to invest in to bring it up to date. If you can create a solid look, you may simply need new accessories to refresh the look. The beauty in doing this is ensures that you will create styles that are unique and personal to you.

Surprisingly, I’m actually feeling the plaids, leotards and pantyhose this season.

What trends are you excited about and or would love to shop in XOC?

SS22 RUNWAY REPORT

"It's a first in the history of fashion: two designers having a true creative dialog that stems from respect and friendship," said Donatella Versace. The dark and uncertain events of the last two years has caused many people to appreciate togetherness and support more than ever and on a more optimistic note has produced a phenomenal celebration of fashion and powerful collaboration between Fendi and Versace known as: "Fendace." This historical catwalk event closed out Milan's Fashion Week in unforgettable style.

Another unforgettable feat was the number of fashion houses that apparently were in the mood for a circa '73 hippie vibe and shrooms. Yes, Mushrooms are definitely having a moment this season as they psychedelically donned looks from the houses of Rodarte, Stella McCartney, Brandon Maxwell, and Monse. If wearing mushrooms doesn't excite you, you will be happy to know that the tie-dye craze is evolving into more of a watercolor effect, crochet is being served with fun, sultry, sexy energy that is not limited to just the poolside. The micro midi is back and better, Nudes and Neutral tones are Now and Denim is Forever.

Above all else, I'm most excited about bringing sexy back with soft, breathable, sheer, draping fabrics, the hot shorts and lingerie that is too pretty to be concealed giving sneak peaks is such a vibe to me.

What Styles are you Most excited about?
